Sea of Thieves Season 8 will be available next week, November 22nd. Along with it, the actual substitute for Sea of Thieves Adds On-demand PvP Gameplay was shut down at the beginning of the year.

With these updated capabilities, PvP is opt-in and significantly faster to begin. You can join a faction that is a part of one of the factions, one of the Pirate Lord and the Guardians, or the nefarious Captain Flameheart and his Servants. After you’ve pledged your loyalty, you’re ready to continue the normal course of play or even complete Voyages and fight the Megalodon or whatever you like. It signals to the other players you’re prepared to fight and informs the opponent that you’re ready to fight whenever it may start.

Serving both of these audiences is a great option If Rare can strike the right equilibrium, and to date, it has. “It’d be so easy to add content to the game and stories to the game that feels like tonally the game is really shifting from where it started. But that kind of goofy charm and that playfulness and just that sense of adventure, we just want to build on that–we never want to lose that,” Chapman said. “That’s the thing we’re always trying to protect. So it just feels like that 2018 game or even that game from the beta, it’s the same game, we’re not messing with the foundation. We’re just giving you more stories because that’s what the game is about.”

Sea of Thieves Season 8 will be available on November 22nd for Xbox and PC. A Pirate Emporium refresh and an updated Plunder Pass will arrive alongside the game’s free update.
